The Grand Canyon - Blu-Ray Disc

We got a Blu-Ray player, I can't remember when, maybe five or six months ago. And that day we bought some discs, a couple of them being discs about U.S. national parks.

One we watched and I wrote a little blog about it, which looks like it was back on January 24, was about Yellowstone and Grand Teton. The other was about the Grand Canyon, and somehow this set unopened till today. We have company, and he's interested in such things, so we watched it. It also has a second program that was watched but I missed that part.

The one on Grand Canyon is the same format, the same kind of documentary as the Yellowstone one. Which means real good, but there's nothing about it that would make you want to sit for multiple viewings, if you have only average interest in such things like me.

The Grand Canyon definitely looks like a wonderful place, speaking as someone who's never seen it and maybe never will. And even if I went to see it, I might get the Chevy Chase tour of it and have to move on quickly. Or ... even if I went to see it, I know I wouldn't see the whole thing, since it's vast. I guess I didn't know it was so big. But the Colorado River goes through there around 250 miles. And people take boating trips through there that takes them 18-19 days to accomplish.

That would be more time than I would want to spend on a boat with people. Especially since I didn't see any Porta Potties along the side and I don't know what they're doing. Everything for me comes down to where you're supposed to go to the bathroom. I don't know why they didn't address that issue in the program. Wouldn't almost everyone be curious? Are people just peeing against the mountain?

Plus it looks like you'd be paying a fortune for the accommodations, etc.

The Blu-Ray picture is nice and clear. I never really got into the whole Blu-Ray experience that much since we got the player back in January. I don't think it's especially worthwhile to buy discs to have setting around to watch a time or two. And I've never been one for watching the same shows over and over.

Poodle Paper

Of all the videos on You Tube -- and there are plenty of obscure things -- I know of one that no one has put up yet.

And it's weird that there's no trace of it, including no mentions on the internet that I can find, because we used to watch it on TV in either the late '70s or the very early '80s.

It's called "Poodle Paper," and featured a cute little song along with some very nice footage of poodles. The refrain of the song, which is all I remember, said, "Poodle paper, poodle paper, wipe it, scoop it, wrap it." Very cute, and my family loved it.

We got our first VCR in the fall of 1979 and used to record some stuff like this, videos. Then more so when we were seeing shows like "Pop Clips" and I don't know what all else. It seems like they used to show videos like this on the USA channel, with a show called Nite Flyte.

We definitely had this video for a time but I'm thinking that it was erased. Isn't it very strange that this one video has somehow not made it to the computer? I want to know if there's anyone else in the world out there for remembers it.

Got a New Camera

A video camera that is, a cheapie but a nice one, sort of. A Flip. I saw one my brother had and the videos looked very nice. Mine look nice but not as nice as his, so I don't know what might be wrong.

I had some complications when I hooked it up to my computer. I didn't have my I Tunes hard drive hooked up, which MUST be labeled Drive F, so when I hooked up the Flip camera, it took Drive F and wouldn't let go. From that point on, anytime I plugged in the hard drive it went to Drive G. No good. So I had to figure out how to change that, which meant looking on the internet for the information.

Something went wrong with my volume controls next. Which never happens. There was suddenly no volume whatever. Then no controls. I had to look it up on the interest how to fix that. Then it couldn't be fixed, because nothing showed up as a device on the volume menu. Till I plugged the Flip back in. It's working now.

There was some other complication, which I can't remember now. Suffice to say, it hasn't been entirely smooth sailing.
